Anybody have recommendations for running shoes/brands?

I just started running earlier this summer. I bought a pair of Nike's, but I really don't like them. I'm sure that there are better shoes out there. I'm a novice...so, what do you recommend?

Anybody have recommendations for running shoes/brands?
nike, asics, puma [i wear either neutral or cushion], the design should fit your feet [arc type]. i preferably get the basic running shoes, i don't like the ones with extra technology and so on. price range: $30-60 for a good shoe.
Reply:i have been running for about 7 years now and i prefer brooks or asics. but what you need to do is go to a local running shop where the people really know what they're doing and have them recomend a shoe for you. have them look at you arches and even the way you walk to see where you need the most support. from there you will find the shoe that is perfect for you and your times will drop drastically.
Reply:There are lots of good shoes. Try on different names and styles. Shoes are a personal thing and what works for others may not work for you. I recommend you get a good shoe that fits your foot. You will only know by going to a running shoe store and asking for help, they will fit you and let you walk around and maybe run a little inside the store.
Reply:Nikes Or New Balances Their Great Running Shoes And Comfortable Too!
Reply:I can't possibly overstate this fact, You need a shoe built for you, you can get the most amazing shoes for 100 dollars but it may not work for you, what I'm talking about it pronation. its the lateral movement of your ankle on impact and you can't see it by yourself you need someone to see what part of your heal hits the ground first, the more inside hits the worse you pronate, also any good shoe store should let you try on your shoes and run in them and they should watch and help you pick out how bad your feet pronate, if you dont know what i'm talking about go to another store, as for shoes, go get ones that fit your pronation level, any top brand is good, i've run in asics my whole life but now have a pair of saucony's, lots of my friends use mizunos, brooks are almost as good addidas are ok never run in a nike, thats just not a good idea, best of luck
Reply:I like New Balance. They are very comfortable and good for your feet and back too!But it really just depends on your feet. I have friend who can't where nike because that brand hurts their feet. So just try different brands of shoes on and if they hurt you knees, ankles, and or back they are not the shoes you need to where.
Reply:New Balance is pretty decent and Asics is not a bad brand either.
