What are the best running shoes?

My fiancee and I are going to get back into running. What are the best shoes? He has a bad lower back so he needs support. I have just gotten over a stress fracture in my right foot so I need cushion and support as well. Any ideas? Thanks

These shoes tend to have two densities in the midsole. If you look at the sole on the inside of the foot you should see two different colours of rubber. Generally this will be grey and white. The grey rubber is the more dense portion of the sole. This helps strengthen the area under the arch to give you more support.

Reply:I prefer Asics...after my first pair of 2110's I couldn't wear any other shoes. It is best to get fitted at a good sporting goods store. But you can't lose with Asics or if you have a wider foot look closely at New Balance.

Reply:for someone whose just getting back into running I would recommend something liberal such as Saucony -- they are both very sopportive ands comfortable, and will adapt for many styles.
