Running Shoes Expert which i need help to slove this que .. thx

Does anyone try before the MR1061 New balance running shoes ..??
the shoe has a lot of cushion, but it depends if you like the feel or not. go into a store and try it on.

I work at a specialty running store in California and im also a competitive runner. I have worked with running shoes for years and know that brands like asics, brooks, new balance, nike, misuno, adidas, sacony and a few others have great long distance running shoes. It all depends on what type of shoe you need (neutral, stability and motion control) and how you want it to feel. If you over pronate (your feet and/or ankle role inward) than you need a shoe with some stability (stability=grey material on the inner arc of the shoe or with mizuno is more radical wave like on the Inspire) to support your foot so it can run neutrally. A neutral shoe has white all around the base and is for people who supinate (roll out while toeing off) or for people who don’t over pronate. Motion control is for people who over pronate like crazy or for rare conditions like surgery on the foot.

Each brand caries all three types of shoes; they just feel different for each brand.

Asics and Brooks are two brands that have a happy medium feel where most of the population will buy a shoe from them so it’s safe to by from them and if you don’t like them; try New Balance.

Fit:

This is a list of what foot type usually works with each brand (this is not always right, but it is most of the time).

Adidas: high arc

Sacony: high arc

Nike: normal to high arc

Asics: normal to high arc

Brooks: normal to low arc

Mizunno: normal to low arc

New Balance: low arc

Price:

When you buy a running shoe the price should be about $85 and up for a new style. If you go to an all-a-round sports store, the shoe should cost $65 and up unless you’re buying an Asics 2110 for $45. The shoes around $100 dollars usually are lighter and last longer. A good place to buy shoes is the running center or www.runningcenters.com

Shoe life:

Depending on your weight and how you run, the shoe should last about 400-500 miles until you need a new pair. Running on worn-out shoes is one of the best ways to get injured. I have see shoes last about 900, but don’t chance it.

I have a high arc and a couple shoes work for me.

I currently run in asics (DS trainers), nike (Vomero), New Balance (1061) with a DS trainer liner. I race in adidas (adizero). I still want a pair of the new brooks (Adrenalin) and I know they work for me and feel good.

I use different shoes for different workouts; that’s why I have so many (I also work at a running store so get a BIG discount and some are free for testing^_^).

I can say more but im positive this has answered your question (if you read it all).

Are Crocs more comfortable than running shoes when doing a marathon?

I recently ran the Honolulu Marathon, and saw some guy wearing crocs...When i asked him, he said, %26quot;they%26#039;re much better than running shoes!%26quot; Aloha!

Are Crocs more comfortable than running shoes when doing a marathon?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That guy obviously doesn%26#039;t know anything about running. You will destroy your feet doing that.
Reply:i like running shoes better
Reply:no, they actually hurt your feet more just when your walking.
Reply:I don%26#039;t really know about that. Running shoes have more support
Reply:Hey,you do not wanna wear crocks in any kind of long run/walk event. Crocs are made for comfort because of their lightness, and their %26quot;freedom%26quot;. Please wear running shoes, they are made specifically for running. You%26#039;ll have shin splints for weeks if you don%26#039;t, and that%26#039;ll probably be your smallest problem. RUNNING SHOES : )))
Reply:lol do you honestly think you could run in crocs for 26 miles?!?!?
Reply:Well he%26#039;ll be seeing a podiatrist for about 10 years!
Reply:IF you do not have proper shock absorbent and heel supports your could damage your ligaments and tendons as well as give you blisters.
Reply:no they are not good for running anyways you should get Nike Shoxs they are awesome running shoes
Reply:i would say that that%26#039;s really just personal preferance, for me i think running shoes give better support, i can imagine getting a blister easily from running in crocs, but again its just what feels best for you!
Reply:absolutely not! you%26#039;ll destroy your feet. Get a nice pair of running shoes, (you%26#039;ll know if they%26#039;re good if they cost from 70+ dollars)

DONT USE CROCS!!! Please, for your own sake. Also, i wore a pair of crocs for about a week and got huge blisters on my heels and toes. imagine what running a marathon will do to them.

What are good running shoes for wide feet?

I have wide feet ( I%26#039;m a girl !) that are also a bit flat.! Anyone know of any supportive running shoes that would suit that aren%26#039;t extortionate in price? I%26#039;ve heard New Balance might be ok?

What are good running shoes for wide feet?
Go to a specialist running store and get some advice. Staff in runnning shops will watch you run in the shoes, sometimes while filming you on a treadmill, to analyse your gait and recommend the best ones to suit your anatomy and biomechanics.
Reply:Hey I just got the Asics Gel 1120. I have wide and flat feet too! Once you break them in, your running will improve a lot. Trust me! These shoes really are supportive and really absorb the shock. They%26#039;re a little on the pricy side, depending on where you%26#039;re buying them. It cost me 80 dollars, but it was well worth it. To break them in faster, wear them to school everyday. Good luck! BTW, i got these at a regular sports store. If the people there don%26#039;t really help you, get the Asics gel 1120
Reply:My wife introduced me to a Running Lab. In fact there%26#039;s a place by that name; %26quot;Running Lab.%26quot;

They will have you take off your shoes, watch you walk, and even take an imprint of your foot. After doing so, they will spend a few minutes analyzing everything. They will ask you a few questions about your running style and your level of running.

Once they have finished they will direct you to a wall of shoes, that has ALL different brands of shoes on it and say something like; %26quot;These are what we recommend for you based on your foot%26#039;s shape, the way you run, where your foot actually impacts the ground and the width of slimness of your feet.

After they show you the selection, try a few pairs on, take them for a %26quot;test run%26quot; around the block and once you%26#039;ve found a pair that you like, then get them.

They are GREAT! My spouse has ran a marathon and we are training once again for another one coming up in May. We always go to the running lab. Oh...and the shoes, are sold at a great price too.

And there%26#039;s no extra charge for their services...it%26#039;s all part of what they do. So the whole process, from the moment you get in the door to the moment you select your shoes, is free.

Hope this helps...
Reply:I would suggest you buy mens shoes!

I have wide feet too and i find some mens models actually fit me better and won%26#039;t rub the sides of your feet.

As for your flat feet you probably need some support under the arch of your shoe, because at the moment you might be pronating when you are running which can lead to problems with the knees and hips.

The best thing to do is to go to a good sports shop that specialises in running shoes and they can watch you run up and down and tell you what shoe would be best for your running style.

I run everyday and i find Asiscs shoes the best :)
Reply:new balance are best for you they have different width fittings go to good sport shop sweat shop are good if you have one near you.

What kind of running shoes should I get?

I am running a 10 km race in a month. I used to have a pair of sauconys. I have a slightly narrow heel. I don%26#039;t know what my arches are: my footprint has my heel and forefoot connected by a strip about an inch and a quarter thick. My old shoes were fairly evenly worn.

What kind of running shoes should I get?
try like nike air! or the nikes with usic in them! they really help and motivate you with the music and the nike air are easy to move in!
Reply:I like New Balance the best.
Reply:Sounds like you have a normal arch. I would get your new runners as soon as possible, never do a race in a pair of shoes you haven%26#039;t ran in. Go to a specialty running store and they will fit you properly for foot type, gait, etc. I have a narrow heel and Mizunos and Brooks have been the best fit for me. Also, you could tie you shoes differently to help fit better in the heel.

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR 10K :)
Reply:Jalen I do not know where you are from but if you have a Fleet Feet in you city they will have you run on a treadmill and record your running steps. It will show the bottom of your feet as well as where your foot strikes the surface. From that information they will custom fit you in a shoe.

Cute/feminine/unusual running shoes for under $80?

I%26#039;ve had aasics but Im looking for something different. I like black and gray with a touch of neon color (gray with lime, black with hot pink). Anyone know of any affordable running shoes that stand out against the crow of aasic wearers? I kinda like shocks as long as they look cool.

Thanks guys.

What are good running shoes for beginners?

Are there good running shoes at a reasonable price? Also what type of socks do I use? Any help is appreciated!

What are good running shoes for beginners?
I agree on Asics or Brooks. I used to wear adidas and Nike, but I%26#039;ve been wearing Asics for the last 3-4 years and I just bought by first pair of Brooks this year...what a difference. Much more comfortable! The best thing to do is go to a running shoe store and have them analyze your foot...they will fit you in a shoe designed for your foot type.
Reply:you may want to go to a running store that specialize in running they will help you find the right shoe for running needs. You might need a shoes that gives you more cushioning or one the gives you more support. A shoe the works for one person might not work for you. If you wear the wrong shoe it can can cause injury. They can also help you find a good pair of socks the will work for you. Good Luck
Reply:I like New Balance, but I%26#039;m not a super distance runner or anything. Shoot in the $50-$70 range--they%26#039;ll be reliable but not too expensive. For socks, just get some ones that fit really well. You don%26#039;t want them sliding around while you%26#039;re running, or you%26#039;ll get blisters. I like the kind that barely come up to your ankle. Get ones that have a lot of cotton and spandex and stretch a lot, because they%26#039;re more likely to stay put.
Reply:I would suggest New Balance as well. These are well designed running shoes. You can get any type of running sock that has extra padding on the pressure points of your feet.
Reply:asics or brooks

no nikes or adidas or new balance or any of those

What kind of shoes are good for running?

I%26#039;m going on cross country this coming school year. ive been on the team before and my dad says i would run a lot better with running shoes. i need to know a good brand to buy. THANKS

What kind of shoes are good for running?
nike or new balance.
Reply:Assuming that you are not running in spikes, which is what I hear a lot of girls requesting in my store for XC season, then I have some very good suggestions for you. Not knowing if you need a stability shoe or a straight cushioning shoe, I%26#039;m going to suggest some lightweight, durable shoes that have the best of both.

Asics-2120 or Keyano. Both have a neutral gel cushioning system that will provide shock absorbency and motion control support. They tend to fit young women%26#039;s feet very securely, and both are lightweight. Personal Favorite.

Saucony-Hurricane. Lightweight, made out of a high quality foam, with a stability rail going up and down the middle. Awesome and comfortable shoe.

Nike-Structure Triax or Pegasus. Both have been featured in Runner%26#039;s World magazine as the ultimate distance running shoe for women. They use air (you know, Nike Air Max) in the middle of the shoe for cushioning, you can%26#039;t see it, but it%26#039;s extremely padded on the inside. Both shoes have amazing elements of stability as well.

Take these suggestions to a running store and ask for the best one for your ideal. There is also New Balance, Mizuno and even some Brooks. Good Luck, try a bunch on at the store, go with the one that fits you the best!!
Reply:I work for Saucony, try the Progrid Triump 4 and Progrid Trigon ride for cushioning, Hurricane, Trigon Guide, Omni 6 for structured cushioning. I love the Grid Tangent for speed, I run with the Grid Phoenix 2 and the Triumph 4 as it provides cushioning and stability.
Reply:Asics are THE best running shoe i have ever had...my nikes just didnt do much for me, have used asics for two years of Track and Field and XC and they are soo comfortable and have awesome support.
Reply:Brooks.... go to your local running store to get them.
Reply:Lots of good brands of shoes out there, including Saucony, New Balance, Asics, etc. The best shoe for you depends on what type of foot you have and how you run. Go to a runner%26#039;s store and seek some advice.

Good Luck
Reply:comfort is everything, forget name brands if there not confortable
Reply:i hav new balance shoes ..n i use them in gym ..they r good to go..i guess u shuld take ne balance...its pretty good..thy arent evn like slippery most of the time....
Reply:Asics for sure! I had Nike shox for years and never got very good at running. My feet were always hurting after working out. I really invested (they can get pricey) in a nice pair of shoes and it has made a world of difference. They look stylish too!!!
Reply:asics are the best running shoe for the money

Nike gave me blisters and since switching i haven%26#039;t had another blister
Reply:definitely NIKE!!!! best shoes ever!! trust me, i play vball and we run alot. they are very durable and light!!! :) hope this helped!!

Best Nike/Adidas Running Shoes in the Philippines for women???

I need suggestions as soon as possible. What is the best pair of Nike/Adidas running shoes in the Philippines for women with a price under PHP2000? Thanks!

Best Nike/Adidas Running Shoes in the Philippines for women???
There is no best shoe.

There is no best movie.

There is no best car.

To find a shoe that you will be happy with try:

1. Find out what you want.

2. Go to a store that specializes in selling running shoes.

3. Tell them what you want.

If you don%26#039;t know what you want a salesperson in a specialty running shop is trained to ask you a set of questions to determine what is best for you.

He or she will ask you a series of questions such as:

How often do you run?

How far do you run?

What are your goals?

What surfaces do you run on?

Have you ever had any sport related injuries?

They may ask to see you jog around in the store and they may ask to see a pair of your worn shoes.

Based on this information they should be able to select a few shoes for you to try on. You should choose the one that fits best and feels best on your feet.

Sound good?

Does Ipod nike work with different running shoes?

I need to know whether or not the Ipod Nike or the new Nike Band would work without having a nike shoe? i dont want to spend too much on nike shoe when i already have perfectly good overpriced adidas running shoes..

Does Ipod nike work with different running shoes?
Yes, it does work with other shoes. The only difference is that the indications given off my the Nike Transmitter may be a bit off. All you have to do is put it onto the tongue of your shoe. Hope everything works out!! :D

Recommend any good running shoes for shin splints?

i%26#039;ve had them for months and im looking to buy a new pair of running shoes... hoping that it will eliminate the problem! thanks so much to those who answer!!

Recommend any good running shoes for shin splints?
This is hopefully the first of many monthly articles contributed to my friends at Running Unlimited in Palatine and to all of you runners out there- recreational or competitive, senior citizen or high school age. Running is not just a sport; it can be a way of life. Unfortunately, there can, and always will be, injuries which occur throughout your life as a result of participation. By becoming more knowledgeable about ways to prevent and recognize injuries and conditions, you%26#039;ll be spending more time on the road and less time on the couch! First off, here in the Midwest, we have been blessed by some tremendous running weather over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, it will soon be getting colder. Remind yourself a longer period of time is needed for adequate warm up of your muscle/tendon tissues. Don%26#039;t neglect to do the basics to help you enjoy a healthy fall running season. Now, the article...

With the colder weather conditions, increases in training regimens, variations of training surfaces, or biomechanical abnormalities, pain along the inside of the lower shins may develop. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (Shin Splints) accounts for 10% - 15% of running injuries. Although the exact causes of this condition are unknown, it is believed a variety of factors, such as involved.

When shin pain the ones listed previously, may be arrives, one must look at what varying factors are at play. Are you just beginning running? Are your shoes over-worn? Are you over-training? Do you have flat feet? If you do, you simply may need new shoes or even orthopedic inserts (Orthotics). Each of these factors must be questioned, and by deductive reasoning, figure out which changes can be made.

Next, it is imperative to begin treating yourself for the pain and inflammation. Applying ice packs to the affected area three to four times each day, especially immediately following a workout, seems to help. It is also advised that you alter your workouts by either 1) Shortening the duration and reducing the intensity of the workouts, and/or 2) changing the training surface to grass or a cushioned track. With permission from parents or your physician, antiinflammatories such as Ibuprofen may help decrease the pain and inflammation as well. If pain persists with no improvements regardless of training changes and proper treatments, a visit to the physician is in order to rule out a stress fracture or other serious condition.

As with any injury, the best form of treatment is prevention! Obtaining a properly fitted shoe and/or insert is the first and most important step. Going through a complete warm up procedure which includes stretches of the ankle and lower leg musculature should be the norm. Vary days of your heavy and light workouts, and follow each with a cool down and stretching session. Preventative icing or cold whirlpool treatments following a heavy workout may help as well. Good luck, and until next time, keep on truckin%26#039;!

This is the best advice you%26#039;ll ever get regarding running shoes. Go to a REAL running store and tell them just what you wrote here. Now, I%26#039;m not talking about a store in the mall that has guys that dress like referees or about %26quot;big box%26quot; sporting goods stores. I mean stores that ONLY cater to runners. They have the knowledge, the experience, and the selection to get you what you need.

These good folks will be able to tell what sort of foot strike and gait you have. Bring your old shoes and they can analyze the wear pattern. They%26#039;ll even watch you walk and run to get a better idea.

And, you shouldn%26#039;t expect to pay much more than you would at a mall store. Heck, with a budget of $130, you can get the top of the line. But, usually you should expect to spend between $75 and $100.
Reply:Asics, once I tried them I have not gone back to any other company%26#039;s running shoes.
Reply:If you can get to a shoe store that specializes in running shoes, they are better at looking at your running form and recommending a shoe for you.

Fleet Feet is a chain of stores around the country, but there are many stores owned and worked in by runners. They can watch the the way your foot and ankle react when they land and decide if you need a motion control or stability shoe.

That was my problem. When I ran, my foot and ankle would roll to the inside, pulling on the tendons on the shin. When I got motion control shoes, the problem was fixed.
Reply:Shin splints are caused by muscle imbalance. Calf strong, shin weak. The way to correct this is to strengthen the muscles at the front of the legs. Lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Try to work up to 3 or 4 sets of 5 – 10 reps each.

Yes, investing in good running shoes is a MUST. I prefer Saucony or Asics, but it mostly depends on the kind of foot you have.

Good Luck
Reply:asics are the BEST running shoes. I%26#039;ve never got shin splints while wearing them!
Reply:Yes stop running on hard pavement and run on a track.
Reply:Good to a sports shoe store, they%26#039;ll fit you with the appropriate shoes you require.
Reply:no

How do I chose the right running shoes.?

I have a very cheap pair of trainers at the moment for running but my feet are getting sore during the run. I am going to buy a new pair, but I know there are different foot types and different shoes to suit them. I am 5%26#039;11 and 13 stone male. I want to spend about £40-£50. Any recomendations or advice on how to chose the right shoes? I want them to be suitable for a mix of road and trail.

How do I chose the right running shoes.?
You are looking at the right time now - sales are on and you can get last years models at half price, so your £50 could get you a really good shoe if you are lucky with whats in the sale.

Best advice is to go to a running shop and ask them, they will have a range that you can try on. All will have differences but the main thing is that they are comfortable and that they support your feet. If youi take your old trainers with you they might be able to look at them and advice better models depending how they are worn (for example, they can tell how your foot lands %26quot;pronountion%26quot; from the way the upper has twisted as you have worn them - and advise suitable shoes from that). If not tell them of problems you might have with leg joints (if you have any) and if they are good they will still be able to advice you.

As for particular makes - avoid other peoples preferences - what fits them like a glove migh tcause you blisters and twisted knees - choose what fits you well and that you can run in, even if it isnt the best name on the shelve.

If you are running on road and trails it might be best to get 2 pairs (OK if you can afford them), one for off road and one for road - of course depending on the trails you run and how off road they are (or whether they are gravel tracks or bogs basically)
Reply:Same way you choose the left running shoes, or your times will suffer.
Reply:Go to a specialty running store...I use to work at one and the benefits of getting fit for the right shoe is priceless....mind you is also generally a free service.
Reply:Shoes are a good example of the old adage %26quot;you get what you pay for%26quot;. Keep in mind your shoe is the only thing between you and the ground, so you don%26#039;t want to skimp.

I%26#039;ve tried several running shoes, my favorite is the Asics, they have gel soles. The gel works better for me than the air insoles others have. They are the only shoes I%26#039;ve tried that do not cause soreness the next day.

A cheaper alternative could be to get a gel insole to put inside your shoe.
Reply:I found that Asics are best, and currently have a pair with a gel sole which cost £40 (in a sale) and are always comfortable and are tough. But this is a personal choice. I noticed that most of the decent local runners use them and they are cheaper than brands such as Nike which are more fashion wear than sports wear.
Reply:Get yourself some New Balance shoes!

they are the best for running! but you will need to get them properly fitted otherwise you will end up in the same boat you are in now!

also it is worth paying a little extra for decent shoes! your feet will thank you!
Reply:i suggest going to a running shoe specialty store, talking to one of their specialist and trying on different shoes. most stores offer a gait analysis and give you great recommendation especially since they%26#039;re local and know the area running trails.

every runner has their own shoe preference. i love my brooks axiom 2 bc i do a lot of road running; they%26#039;re light yet stable. asics tend to be too stiff for me personally.

if you find one in specialty store, you can try to find them on-line for cheaper at any of these sites or other running shoe sites:

Fell or trail running shoes/trainers??

can anyone help or advise on a good quality and comfortable pair of mens trail/fell running shoes?

preferably at not too high a price either

Fell or trail running shoes/trainers??
Choice of any running shoe is very personnal - its whether it fits your foot or not and every foot is slightly different, so one brands size 9, might be slightly smaller than another and wont fit so well.

Best option is to go to a specialist ruinning shop and get them to advise you and to try on several pairs.

I have Innov running shoes and they do me OK - whether they are good for you is another matter though.

If the running shop advises shoes that are too expensive, you could always make some excuses and try to see if you can get them online, however that is a bit dodgy I think if they have spent the time sorting a good shoe for you.

Best Brand of Running Shoes?

I%26#039;ve been trying to research the best brand of shoes for running my first half-marathon. I%26#039;ve been training in New Balance, but I%26#039;m going to need to replace them soon. Any recommendations?

Best Brand of Running Shoes?
BEST BRAND??

I am embarrassed to say that I have over 73 pairs of running shoes. I run competitively in Chicago. Nike has come a long way in terms of quality (lasting long) If you have normal feet and just want to run distances of 10k and up then you would love the Air zoom elite-Equalon or the Vomero. No matter what shoe or brand you choose remember this!! MORE PADDING ISN%26#039;T BETTER!! Go for the lightest no-frills shoe. When you hear about somebody %26quot;aching%26quot; after a run or race..look at their shoes!! The more padding is a marketing ploy the companies use to make you believe that your knees and legs are going to be pampered..when in fact what prevents your feet from striking the ground naturally and efficient (which lessens impact and after-pain) is all that control crap! I run sub 16 5k%26#039;s sub 1:20 half marathons and didn%26#039;t start achieving these times prior to ridding my arsenal of these types of shoes.

I%26#039;m new to track and today I went out to buy running shoes. Would these be appropriate?

Thanks.

Would these shoes be suitable for running..?
It depends whether you%26#039;re racing or training. I%26#039;d recommend spiked shoes for either, although these shoes would be suitable for training- If you plan to race you should buy a pair of spikes!

What kind of running shoes should I buy?

My ankles are slightly pronated (they curve inwards) and tend to get sore after I exercise. Should I buy cushioned, stabilized, or lightweight, etc. running shoes?

What kind of running shoes should I buy?
I don%26#039;t know where you live, but where I live in Southern California, their are two shoe shops highly esteemed in my opinon: Fleet Feet, and A Snail%26#039;s Pace. I suggest looking those stores up online and see if there are any locations near you. Anyways, they do a rigorous examination of your shoe, and then they choose the shoe they think is the best for you, you run around in them for 5-10 minutes, if you like them buy them, if you don%26#039;t they pick another one. Usually they know which shoe is best for you. You might also want to do some research online and see if any shoes are specifically made for your case, because I know they make shoes with different support levels, and even shoes for flat feet. Also, before you buy them, make sure you run in them for a good 10 minutes around the store, walking up and down the aisle won%26#039;t tell you whether they will hurt after a while or not. Hope this helps!
Reply:asics are nice for running, and they last
Reply:asics are really good. I have pronated feet too, and I love asics. I would suggest going to a specialty running store to get fitted correctly.
Reply:As one of the other posters mentioned, you should go to a running shoe store and have them help you. From hat you are saying you may want to get some motion control shoes (one example is the Brooks Addiction). From personal experience the motion control shoes do help with ankle problems.

If you can%26#039;t afford orthopedics, try getting just Spenco brand arch supports. They don%26#039;t cost too much and they work well... either the full sole or the 3/4th length sole works.

What are good mens running shoes to buy?

I run on pavement around my neighborhood. I try to do 3 miles a day. Maybe something with cushion/durability. What are some good mens running shoes?

What are good mens running shoes to buy?
My favorite running shoes are Asics, just as everyone else said, but they are not for everyone. There are different types of shoes for different types of runners. It all depends on how you move your feet when you run: do you pronate (turn your foot inward) or supinate (roll your foot outward)? How heavy are you? How often do you run? Are you prone to injury? These are all things to consider when selecting the appropriate running shoe.

The best thing to do is to go to a nearby running specialty store. A worker there should talk with you and watch you run and can reccomend the right type of shoe for you. Good luck with your running.

we%26#039;ll my dad says that the best running shoes are definitely those that have to be made specifically for sports activities. so i suggest trainers from nike or adidas. I dont know how much it cost there but here its really rpicey but it is so durable! it wont wear out quickly and it can be saved for years to come! :) hope it helps.
Reply:Hello,

In my opinion, Asics are some of the best to buy. They are very comfortable and they will really help you in support. I%26#039;ve been running track for Middle and High School and i%26#039;ve only worn Asics. You can find them at any major store or at any running store. But i would prefer a running store because they really care about you make sure you get the shoe that fits just right. Asics are relatively expensive, good trainers can cost upwards of 80 dollars. But that%26#039;s a small price to pay. Hope i helped.
Reply:One shoe that comes to mind is Asics. Go to your local Running Shoe Store and ask them about the best Asics for your feet. They usually ask you to walk and they judge based on how your heel roles. You might need a stability shoe. Also, if you are running on soft surfaces you may need some low tread shoe. If you are running on hard surfaces, a stiffer tread would be needed. Asics has many different styles and tread types.

I hope this has helped you.

Is it ok to walk in my running shoes?

I recently bought a $200 pair of asics because my feet hurt from cheaper shoes when I played sports and went for long runs.... I%26#039;m wondering if it%26#039;s ok to walk with these shoes, or should they be strictly for running?

I can%26#039;t afford another shoe

Is it ok to walk in my running shoes?
You can walk in running shoes and you can run in running shoes that only think that is wrong about walking in the shoes is that you might wore the shoes down sooner then if you were not walking in then. And your foot might get comfortable with the shoe from walking and running in it and you might start to have pain again

check out this link. it shows you what kind of arch you have, which means it is easier to pick the perfect shoe for you! If you need arch support, I pretty much suggest shoes from asics. they are very comfortable! if you are looking for clothing, then I suggest these for shorts:http://www.anacondasports.com/ProductDis...

hope it helped!
Reply:well ok running is more stretched out then more people know. if you want to get shoes that you will be able to run faster in go ahead and try to find a shoe that is lightweight and doesn%26#039;t have to much insole in the heel. but if you want to run for long distances then getting that heel insole is key. another thing is the distance shoes tend to be a lot more comfortable to run in. I personally recommend asics for the brand of shoe. They can be pricey but very comfortable and they last. And as for clothes just go to the website and pick something out. unless your running competitively, it doesn%26#039;t really matter.
Reply:For shoes, I would suggest either Asics, Brooks, or Saucony. Nikes have been known to be hard to keep clean, and adidas are better for basketball. Go to a running store and get advice on shoes that would work best for you. It really depends on the distance you run, and shape of your foot. Clothes shouldn%26#039;t be too tight and they should not interfere with running. An air-wick brand like Under Armour, Nike, or Adidas is good because they have been known to do better than cotton.
Reply:Nike Asics and Saucony are the best, all others are inferior. You get what you pay for with running shoes the price usually reflects the quality...running clothes...Sporthill is the best
Reply:addidas, nike,

Are New Balance good running shoes? If not, what is?

I%26#039;m going to start doing a lot of running over the summer to get in shape for cross-country. I have a pair of New Balance 406, which seem fine to me, but a lot of other kids have similar shoes and I%26#039;ve heard they%26#039;re not very good for running.

What do you recommend?

Also for cross country: what kind of spikes/ flats should I get? I only have a pair of spikes for short sprinting from spring track, however I%26#039;ve been doing the 800m a lot and my heels feel fine after.

Are New Balance good running shoes? If not, what is?
NB is good, but you have to have the right foot type. They tend to be made for wider feet (not all, though). The best way to find out is to try them b/c everyone will fit a shoe differently %26amp; a shoe that is awful for one person may be the best choice for another. Asics or Mizunos are my preferences because they are light, very comfortable, and really durable.

As for xc: definitely get different spikes, even if your heels seem to be fine. Just go to the store %26amp; ask them to show you distance spikes. For flats, the New Balances or whatever you decide on will work great.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure, but I have some Nike Sparq shoes that I got for $60 on sale @ MC Sports, and they work great. They%26#039;re Men%26#039;s Cross Training.

Asics all the way! They are just more comfortable and reliable than any other shoe i%26#039;ve had. Give %26#039;em a try.

Good Luck!
Reply:I have had all types of different brands, and I%26#039;m not particularly loyal to one brand since they all of have their faults and advantages. I would recommend going to a specialty running store, and running around the shop or on a treadmill to get a good feel for your shoes. Ask the people who work at the store for recommendations, they usually know what they are talking about.

Whats the difference between tennis shoe and running shoes?

i%26#039;m taking a tennis class at school and teacher told us %26quot;tennis shoes required. no running shoes.%26quot; but whats the difference?

Whats the difference between tennis shoe and running shoes?
Running shoes have a higher lift, because of the added cushioning and the angle needed to keep a body forward position.

The soles of running shoes have a more %26quot;teethy%26quot; sole for traction for many different terrains! Runners do not shuffle side to side like tennis players so a running shoe will not offer the same lateral support as a true tennis shoe. The %26quot;teethy%26quot; sole of a running shoe is potentially dangerous in that it can %26quot;catch%26quot; the surface during those low to the ground shuffle movements. And because of the higher lift, turning an ankle in a running shoe can be very serious and very painful. Also if you are taking lessons on clay courts, often called soft courts, running shoes will tear the surface up, thus making the courts themselves dangerous to play on!

As a tennis coach who teaches on clay courts I strongly recommend finding a local or not local tennis shop to advise you on the style and fit that will best suit your level and the surface you are playing on!

Good Luck!
Reply:A tennis shoe is flat on the bottome, to help you move swifter and helps to protect against injuries, especially in your ankle. Running shoes help you run faster since they help creat traction.
Reply:tennis shoes have a more flat bottom
Reply:a tennis shoe has a more flat bottom, because in tennis your shoes need to be as flat as they can or you%26#039;ll run the risk of rolling your ankle. running shoes have more tread on the bottom to create more traction.
Reply:The expression on the tennis court owner%26#039;s face after you%26#039;ve played...
Reply:tennis shoes are made of predominantly leather (rather than mesh mix running shoes). This adds support. Moreover they have flat bottom soles with herringbone pattern pressed in

but with more pattern in between the gaps.

they are also not raised as high in the heel to provide better stability for lateral movement, and to help prevent ankle rolling.

the shoes also have bracing around the foot made of a hard rubber or plastic, coming down from or up to the laces around the foot.for lateral movement support and to prevent foot from moving around in shoe.
Reply:tennis shoes have flatter soulsfr better grip on flat surfaces...this is because the tennis courts are always flat ......while running shoes are ment for all surfaces nd there soul are modified for the same

Do I REALLY need running shoes for jogging 20 min every other day?

I%26#039;ve only been jogging for a couple of weeks and use some every-day trainers.

Are running shoes meant for people who run more than I do?

I%26#039;m living of £30 a week as I%26#039;m a student so would rather save my money for a sports bra.

Do I REALLY need running shoes for jogging 20 min every other day?
You definitely need something with some cushioning and arch support. Are running shoes 100% neccesary in your case? No. As a runner myself though and a track coach I would recommend them for you. Running shoes should be replaced every 6 months or approximately 400 miles. Your knees and hips will tell you if you need them or not, they will also tell you when you need a new pair. A sports bra is a very good investment as well.
Reply:no u can try going barefooted
Reply:If you don%26#039;t wear the right shoes, you are risking injury to not only your feet, but your ankles, knees and hips also.

You don%26#039;t need to get an expensive pair, but the trainers you are running in should have some sort of cushioning and support, especially under the arch of the foot.
Reply:If your current shoes aren%26#039;t bothering you, you don%26#039;t need running shoes. Running shoes are meant for people who run as a sport. If you%26#039;re just getting exercise, you don%26#039;t need them unless you want them.
Reply:They don%26#039;t have to be expensive, but I would really recommend some decent shoes with a good thick sole. Like the other poster said, serious damage can be done running in shoes that aren%26#039;t made for running in.
Reply:I would suggest getting running shoes. The problems of running in shoes that aren%26#039;t designed for running can be pretty serious. The biggest problems with a non-running shoe is the lack of support and the lack of proper cushioning.
Reply:No, you don%26#039;t.

I ran cross-country for 3 years, and while everyone else on my team went out and bought the super expensive running shoes, I bought a pair of $20 reeboks, and they worked great. I still have them, 6 years later.

The running shoe is not what%26#039;s important. It%26#039;s the fit that%26#039;s the important part. If you find a pair of light, comfortable shoes, use those. Don%26#039;t waste your money on shoes you hardly wear but for an hour a week.

I don%26#039;t know why everyone is talking about insoles. You need motion control running shoes that are made for people with feet that have low or no arch.

A real running shoe store can get you the right shoe.

Are there in soles for running shoes? if so what are the best?

my running shoes are comfortable and a perfect fit, but sometimes my shins start to hurt. are there an in sole especially for running? what do you recommend me doing to treat my shins after a run? they don%26#039;t hurt so bad that i cant walk, its just an annoying pain.

Are there in soles for running shoes? if so what are the best?
There are lots of insoles that can help with shin splints. From personal experience, one that I know is great is Superfeet (see link #1). Also, lots of my running buddies swear by them, and they are definitely one of the most popular on the market. I have also heard good things about Smartfeet.

However, far and away the best way to avoid shin splints is to stretch them before your runs. Some very good ones are at link #2. In particular, the first three are a must before every run for every runner with a history of shin splints.

When you get shin splints, the best way to treat them is to rest them and ice them. You should apply ice directly on the inflammation for no more than 15 minutes at a time for 3-4 times a day. If the pain becomes unbearable, you can take over the counter pain kills like Advil, but they will do nothing to make your shin splints go away any faster.

Good luck on your recovery~!
Reply:I don%26#039;t think insoles will help your problem...You need to strengthen the muscles of your lower leg, especially your tibialis anterior.

*Shin splints are caused when your tendons and other connective tissue are forced to absorb excessive force because the muscles of your feet and lower leg are not strong enough to handle the pounding. Insoles will provide a little more cushioning, but ultimately, you will just need to get stronger lower legs. To strengthen your tibialis anterior, lean back against a wall and raise your toes so all your weight is on your heels. Do as many of these as you can (you should feel a burn.) Doing this several times a week will help prevent shin splints.

What should I look for when finding the right kind of shoes for running?

Last night was the first time in forever that I ran for any length of time. I felt extremely exhilerated (sp?) after I was done. It took me a little while to run a mile (17.11min) but it felt good just the same. I want to continue running and lower the time it takes me to run a mile but today I found myself with sore shins.

Before last night I have been a walker....walking anywhere from 3-5 miles nearly everyday I work. (I%26#039;m a respiratory therapist and am all over the hospital to see patients) I also walk when I%26#039;m not at work but it%26#039;s not as far only because the walking I do at work is stop and go...if that makes any sense.

The shoes I have for walking are great however, I don%26#039;t think they are good for running because of the pain I incurred.

Is there a big difference in running and walking shoes? If so what are they?

Should I invest the money into a good pair of running shoes?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

What should I look for when finding the right kind of shoes for running?
I started running in October. I bought New Balance shoes because my husband is a runner and he had read that this brand is rated as the best running shoes for amateurs. I have foot problems (i.e. I hate shoes...they all make my feet hurt to some extent). I estimate I have run over 50 times since then...I run 1.75 miles every other day at least. I have only timed myself once, but I ran my route in less than 16 minutes, so I figure I probably run a mile in less than 9 minutes easily. I only wear the shoes when I run and they feel really good when I wear them. They were about $70. I am now running over 2 miles and will start running every day in a few weeks...I%26#039;ve signed up to run in a triathlon at the end of March with a few of my girlfriends, so I need to increase my speed! Good luck!
Reply:I have been running for 8 years now. Though I am biased towards Nike as a brand, I would recommend you to go to a running-specific store, like Fleet Feet in Carrboro, NC. They can help you find the right shoe because people buy shoes that aren%26#039;t necessarily right for their feet, but more comfortable or fashionable. But after you get the correct shoes or even if you haven%26#039;t, I would go to any major athletics store and ask the sales associates because they are getting paid to know the products they are selling. Good luck!!!

Reply:Yes there is a difference between the shoes

and yes pay the money for good running shoes that support your arches
Reply:Go to a sports store and really try them on and feel for comfort. Nike shocks are the greatest.
Reply:Fit and comfort is the most inportant. when u try them on walk around the store with the string tied. u will get an idea if its the right shoe 4 u
Reply:I don%26#039;t know what the shoe manufacturers say but this is what my podiatrist told me. The sole should be more rigid in a running shoe and have a wide profile. Less flex (twist) from side to side means less chance of a sprain if you land on a pebble or something else that could roll under you. Another reason for the rigid sole is if you wear orthotics it hold them in place. No point in having them if they are moving around in your shoe and not supporting your foot where they should be.
Reply:You need to go to a specialty or elite running store. If you don%26#039;t know where to find one, go to runnersworld.com and you can search one out. A running store will have trained associates who can evaluate you and help you choose the best shoes.

What are some good running shoes?

I started running. I just wanted to know what a good pair of running shoes are.

What are some good running shoes?
I am with C A on this one. You need to find a running specialty store like Fleet Feet or Luke%26#039;s Locker. My personal favorite are Asics, too. Just don%26#039;t go to Sports Authority or Academy... the salespeople generally don%26#039;t know anything about what they are selling. Good running shoes address different running styles, and the salesperson can determine a lot by looking at the wear pattern on the bottom of your current shoes, and watching you run on a treadmill.
Reply:I love my Asics Cummulus Gel...I never have any problem with feet or knees.
Reply:addidas are the best option.......trust me
Reply:New Balance has been great for me, they have withstood everything I could throw at them. Saucony%26#039;s are the most comfortable I%26#039;ve ever worn, but they%26#039;re not so durable. It depends upon what your needs are, then find a shoe that matches them.
Reply:I would say asics are really good. In order to prevent injury though, I would go to a running store (not *****) in which they will fit your foot so you get the right size, brand, and style. It really helps since every foot is different and everyone lands a different way.
Reply:Saucony are the best. My feet live in those, but Nike spikes are good too. If you are distance i would also recommend saucony.
Reply:Nike%26#039;s and Puma%26#039;s are amazing shoes but it depends what

kind of running your doing. If your doing long distance running I would suggest a pair of nike shocks because they have good absorbency and are not as hard on the feet. However, if your doing something like track and field Pumas would work the best because that%26#039;s what there designed for.
Reply:nikes are pretty good
Reply:Asics. They are much cheaper and better than Nikes. The best advice I can give you is to go to a specialist running store and try on several pairs before buying. You need to get your gait (the way you run) analysed so that you don%26#039;t buy trainers that don%26#039;t support you properly as you could get injured. Believe me, I learned this lesson the hard way. I over pronate and pulled a muscle in my bottom running with incorrect shoes. It took a long time to get over and was so painful that I had trouble walking for a few weeks.
Reply:Each runner is different. I like Brookes Radius. This is how I found out what I like: I went to this specialty running store, where they fitted my feet and body type and running type etc to a shoe. The next year I tried to get a different brand because it %26quot;looked cooler%26quot;. Then I got a stress fracture. After pt and rest, I also went back and bought the updated model of my old shoes (the brooks radius). I have been healthy and speedy ever since! So go to a specialty running store and have them help you out. NOTE: this is not just any old sports store, it%26#039;s a specialty running store. Or runnersworld.com has some great links, etc about shoes. Go to www.runnersworld.com and click on the shoes %26amp; gear tab. Or go to this link: http://www.runnersworld.com/channel/0,71...

Talk about poor advice! Aside from anything else, running shoes give you very little lateral support, which is essential for your feet when playing tennis.

Before you buy your next pair of tennis shoes, please read the article below. After reading it, you%26#039;ll know when someone%26#039;s trying to rip you off.
Reply:Big no-no playing tennis in running shoes!

The biggest problem: It does not give enough support for side to side movement.

Another big problem: It leaves black marks on the court.

Worst case scenario: You have to be carried off the court by your opponent while the janitor of the courts shout at you for leaving black marks (and maybe blood) on the court...
Reply:The manager is a flat out liar. I highly suggest that you DO NOT play tennis with your eccos. Go out and buy yourself a pair of REAL tennis shoes that are actually designed to play tennis. If you play with the eccos... you could have a serious ankle injury and not be able to play at all. The eccos do not support your ankle and you can easily twist it and injure yourself badly.

DO NOT PLAY WITH THE ECCOS.
Reply:DO NOT PLAY TENNIS IN RUNNING SHOES!!!

running shoes are ultra-light weight...runners are doing a very basic and repetitive motion so running shoes take out a lot of the ankle stabilizing goodness (because it adds weight).

tennis if full of quick starts/quick stops and lateral movement. your ankles are NOT being supported in running shoes....you are looking at ankle sprains if you do.

Are Ecco running shoes good for tennis too?

I bought some Ecco running shoes and the store clerk/manager keeps telling me that they are good for tennis playing. I just don%26#039;t want to fall down out there. Anyone know if the manager is just trying to keep me with them? They are RXP 3040 style.

Wat are some good brands for running shoes (easy 10 pts.)?
Hey. I%26#039;m on cross country also, and I%26#039;ve been through many brands of shoes, and I finally found the perfect brand......Asics! I love them! You can get them at almost any sports equipment store or shoe store, like Dick%26#039;s Sporting Goods, Finish Line, etc. They are great, and they come in all different styles and fun colors. And if you need help in finding a specific style or shape specific to your feet I%26#039;m sure the store%26#039;s personell will be glad to help you. Hope this helps!!
Reply:I use to wear Nike as well, until they started to hurt my feet and calves. So I went to an actually running store and bought a pair of Asics. There is a bunch of different ones, but all are great shoes that last. I got the Dirt Diva for girls, but they have guys that are the same there called Dirt Dogs.
Reply:go to a specialized running store, your coach can tell you where one is and then they will fit you to a shoe that will work with your feet and your body well

mizuno and acics are the best for cross country.

you should find out if your feet is neutral, flat footed or high arch, then decide what shoes you should buy or you would get feet problems like shin splint whatsoever.

How long should I wear new running shoes before they're broken in enough to run a 5k?

I am running my first 5k in a few weeks and have been training in old running shoes. I want some new ones before the race, but am wondering how long I have to wear them before they%26#039;re broken in enough. I know it probably depends on the shoe, but am wondering if there is a general rule of thumb.

How long should I wear new running shoes before they%26#039;re broken in enough to run a 5k?
I remember the old days when running shoes needed 10 or 20 miles to loosen up. But nowadays, if the shoe fits, I never get blisters anymore.

Also a 5k is pretty short, you%26#039;d have a hard time getting blisters anyway unless the shoes were a bad fit.

So maybe one or two short runs should be enough.
Reply:It depends how much you use them during the set time.

You might not even need to break them in. If they feel comfortable, and you don%26#039;t have any rub marks, you should be fine.
Reply:I ran in my new shoes the day before a 1/2 marathon tomake sure they didnt give me blisters, so it depends on how they feel.

I always prefer new shoes over old reliable shoes, they are more forgiving on your joints and mentally give you an extra boost. Well they do for me anyway.
Reply:I usually go for one or two runs before hand to make sure the shoes don%26#039;t give me blisters and if I even feel that good running in them
Reply:if they are a good fit, they should be fine. I would take them out for a few runs just to make sure there are no problems going to crop up in them.

I usually transition a shoe in over 2 weeks, while wearing my old ones and then alternating the old ones for the bigger runs and then the little runs for the new ones. Seems to work for me. Also gives me a few more Km on the old ones before giving them up.

Joggers, what running shoes do you prefer and any breathing advice that does not involve heaving?

Horribly out of shape and I want to take up jogging, but as a direct result of years of sitting on my *** I have difficulty catching my breath while running and I must completely stop or die. Also, need to know what shoes are appropiate or preferable. Didnt think Id ever need breathing techniques, but apparently theres a skill to it (hey, I stopped cramming food into my mouth- so thats not it!).

Joggers, what running shoes do you prefer and any breathing advice that does not involve heaving?
Start slowly and build up. Start with walking, first, and then add running intervals once you feel comfortable. A good plan for this is the couch to 5K plan, http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/... The plan has you gradually increase your running intervals until you are running the whole time. Also, don%26#039;t feel that you have to sprint. Just run at whatever speed you can do for now. You can always get faster later.

As far as shoes, no one shoe is right for everyone. If you have a running store around like Fleet feet, for example, go to the store and they will help you get the correct shoes for your feet. If you don%26#039;t have any local stores, try the shoe dog at road runner sports http://www.roadrunnersports.com It will ask you different questions about your feet and your running, and recommend the best shoes for you.
Reply:Well for the shoes, it all depends on what kind of foot you have. flat, high arch, or regulat arch. if you have flat feet then you need some cushioning, if you have high arches then you need a shoe that has arch support, and if you have a regular arch, get a running shoe that is comfortable to you. as for everything else, try this website this is the manual for physical training that we use in the US Army. Hope this helps.

How to find the right running shoes?

I been looking for a right pair of running shoes. Now I%26#039;ve done the wetting my feet and putting on paper to see the size of my foot. But it doesnt help are there any other methods any of you would know to find the right running shoes?

Thank You,

Da DoN!

How to find the right running shoes?
Just try some on and buy something that is comfortable and fits well. The wetting the foot thing isn%26#039;t for size, it%26#039;s to see whether you have high or low arches. People with high arches usually wear cushioned shoes, people with medium arches stability shoes and low arches motion control shoes. You can also just look at your foot to see what kind of arch you have. The best way to know your size is to measure your foot at the shoe store.
Reply:try wetting your foot and putting you foot on cement this method works a lot better
Reply:many say evening times are best times to know your foot size as feet expand after days work.. so go to any store near by in the evenings and try some running shoes and find out your size.
Reply:Running shoes are an investment. It%26#039;s SO important to have the right ones or else you will find yourself having issues with your feet, knees, back, etc...and that%26#039;s no fun! Here are my tips:

1- Find a non-chain athletic shoe store. Most larger cities have such places that specialize in running shoes. They will give you the highest quality care and attention.

2- Have your feet measured. Both width and length count. Know your size and that will help you find the right fit.

3- Know what you%26#039;re looking for. If you are a serious runner who competes in marathons or if you are only a recreational runner, know your average distance per week and distance/time per run. That will help the salesperson in helping find your shoe.

4- Understand your foot. If you are an overpronator or underpronator, if you have high or low arches, if you have a narrow heel...those are all important issues that can have an impact on the shoe you select.

5- Try on, try on, try on! If it takes you two hours to choose a shoe, so be it! Try on both shoes and as many shoes as necessary. Bounce in them, do some high knees, run in place, walk around the store and test those babies out. Keep in mind that there shouldn%26#039;t be a %26quot;breaking in%26quot; period for the shoes. If they don%26#039;t feel comfortable at the store, they won%26#039;t get any better at home. Make sure they are cozy.

6- Avoid the %26quot;add-ons%26quot;. I hate it when salespeople try to push gel heels, sport insoles and so on. The shoes should fit comfortably without all of that stuff. If the shoes are good, you can *consider* adding extras, but they shouldn%26#039;t be necessary to %26quot;make%26quot; the shoe for you.

I think that%26#039;s about all. I hope that helpls...I love going sneaker shopping every 6 months! :-)
Reply:Go to a running store and ask them if they can fit you for a shoe. Usually they will tell you if your foot needs more padding for stability or something like that.

Running // How expensive and durable are the running shoes that you currently use?

Running // How expensive and durable are the running shoes that you currently use?
I have a pair of Adidas Supernova Classic, 2 months old,86.99

A pair of Mizuno Inspire, 89.99 3 weeks old

A pair of Adidas Supernova Trail $40 bucks 1.5 years old (eBay bargain)

A pair of Adidas Supernova Classic 6 months old on the way out, to become my weight training shoes and then lawn mowers.

I love my Adidas Supernova Classics, they are a stability shoe, and they wear like iron. Jury is out on the Mizunos, but they were great out of the box, no breaking in necessary.
Reply:i got my adidas for a very good price 40.00 but i have paid up to to 60.00 for adidas. They look good and feel great! i have had a pair for about 3 years that i would still run in and dont have the heart to throw them away . i just buy new ones cause my old ones are so dirty.
Reply:I run in my ancient black Reeboks that I used to wear when I was a waitress. I think they were around $75. So far they%26#039;ve lasted me four years, and they%26#039;re still in good shape. They%26#039;re really comfortable and bouncy.
Reply:I started with $85 NB to fit my duck feet. Lasted about 250 miles and then they broke down at the toe. Problem was they were 1/2 size to big to accommodate my duck feet. I then graduated to professionally fit Asics 2110%26#039;s for $89. Because they are designed for my style I am approaching mile 300 (All outdoors) and they still look and feel like new. I have to recommend Asics. Sorry your experience wasn%26#039;t good with them.
Reply:From what I have read and heard from podiatrists is that you need to A actually look at the shoes before you buy them. Look for places where there is to much glue on the sole or to little. Check the stitching etc etc. He also recommended placing both shoes on the counter if a shoe wobbles back and forth to much that the sole had a bad molding. I personally went out spent around 50 bucks on a pair of Reeboks then went to the podiatrist and spent 50 bucks on a pair of orthodic insoles. These insoles have made my running shoes outlast every other pair of sneakers I own. They are going on 3 years. I view this as a bargain since the shoes themselves were in fine shape but the padding and insoles had gone to rot from use. Just a suggestion for you to look into.

Hope it helps.

Where do I go for good running shoes?

I enjoy running, but wake up in the middle of night with foot cramps. I am wearing a new pair of Nike running shoes. Everyone keeps telling me I need to be fitted and spend the money on %26quot;good%26quot; running shoes made for me (I have flat feet) and that a 19 year old kid working at Academny or Foot Locker isn%26#039;t going to be able to help me. Where do I get this fitting and recommendation?

Where do I go for good running shoes?
i have very flat feet too and i enjoy running.

i wear nikes or Asics...i like Asics the best and they are really comfortable.

if those don%26#039;t work then i suggestest finding Dr. Scholls...i%26#039;ve seen them at wal-mart before
Reply:New Balance is good...I just HATE how they put so much mesh in the shoe though Report It

Reply:Try a sporting goods store, such as Dick%26#039;s. The people there may know what they are talking about, depending on the store you go to. A place that they have near where I live called Road Runner Sports is great. It depends where you live - check your local phone book for running shoe stores. Also, another place to go is the New Balance store. They are all over the nation and will definitely fit you and help you find the right shoe for your foot type. (Believe it or not, it is a bit of a science to find the right shoe!) Whoever told you not to go to Foot Locker or Foot Action is right. They probably don%26#039;t know much about long, frequent running like it sounds like you%26#039;re doing.

Also, check out the Shoe Lab Shoe Finder at Runner%26#039;s World (http://runnersworld.com/cda/shoelabshoef... This may give you a good idea of what to look for when you go out to shop. My advice is to steer away from Nike or Adidas, unless you find a pair that is great for cross-training. Lean more towards brands such as Saucony (my personal favorite), New Balance, or Asics - all of these are awesome for any type of runner. Hope this helps!

also some pharmacy may have a recommendation.

I bought a pair of running shoes but it has really long shoe laces?

Are long shoe laces on running shoes in fashion right now? How am I supposed to wear these? LIke wrap it around my leg? What am i supposed to do with them?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks

I bought a pair of running shoes but it has really long shoe laces?
I know what you mean, why do they make them so long.

I just went to the shoe store and bought some new shorter laces, but make sure you ask them what size you need, don%26#039;t assume that the 8 eye-hole ones are the right size for your 8 eye-hole shoes.

If they are any good at what they do, they will be able to tell you.

Makes you feel like a clown with those big double knotted haging shoe laces, doesn%26#039;t it?
Reply:If they are way to long just go buy some short shoe laces or just tuck them in.

Don%26#039;t leave them long just in case you step on it and fall,

that wouldn%26#039;t be good!!!
Reply:no because they might until when running or you might step on them while running. take them out and buy a different pair of laces. do not run with long laces, youre just putting yourself in a position to get hurt
Reply:why did you buy them then? take them back or replace the laces. shaaaaaa
Reply:Go to a shoe store and give them the shoe.

Tell them that you would like shorter laces and they can help you. Or call them and they can%26#039;t put the laces on hold so you can just swing by anytime.
Reply:this is a serious answer and has been my way out for twenty years know first that the laces are man made fiber and can be burned off with a cigarette lighter and rubbed round in your finger to resemble the plastic end when it it hot enough to melt, if you don%26#039;t like the finger burns then keep water handy when doing it works great with a little practice
Reply:tuck
Reply:mine too! and it looks dumb when you have them regularly tied. i actually cut them shorter or if you want you can go but a shorter pair of shoe laces. i think they do that because they make one size shoelaces for all their shoes so they need to make them long enough for larger shoes.
Reply:try sticking them in your shoe?
Reply:cut the laces or buy new shorter ones

Breaking in running shoes?

Whats the best way to break in a new pair of running shoes? I just bought myself a new pair and when I did my work out i ended up with blisters an inch or so below both my inner ankles. Its just that one spot thats bothering me. Any suggestions?

Breaking in running shoes?
sondra,

Are you sure that the answer is breaking in your shoes?

Running shoes don%26#039;t have to be broken in. Made of their soft, pliable synthetic materials, they are good for running right out of the box. I%26#039;ve run for years and never had to break in a pair. None of my friends have, either.

Might the problem be the fit or your socks?

They are the right size, aren%26#039;t they? About half a size up from your regular shoes, maybe a full size in the winter if you wear thicker socks? Here in the Seattle area we don%26#039;t have to worry about that, but when I lived in Wisconsin and ran in 25-below-zero winters, I wore thicker socks to keep my toes on my feet. When the snow wasn%26#039;t three feet deep, that is.

How about you?

Make sure that your shoes are good ones. You don%26#039;t say which brand they are, how much they cost, nor for what kind of foot they are.

Good shoes: good ones start at about $90, at least around here. Less expensive ones can be a bit stiff or less well cushioned, and they can cause blisters.

Good brand: Brooks, Saucony, Nike, Asics, New Balance, or Reebok are good shoes with a good line of different shoes for different feet.

Right Kind: feet come in three basic styles of arch: high, medium, and low, and they make the foot roll (%26#039;pronate%26#039; in runner%26#039;s jargon) different ways, and therefore need different kinds of shoes. Here%26#039;s an easy way to tell what kind of arch you have:

Put a brown paper bag on the floor of your bathroom before you bathe or shower. When you are finished with the tub or shower, step on the bag and then quickly step off it again and look at your footprint. If it%26#039;s like two ovals or a funny question mark, you have high arches. If it looks like a stereotypical footprint, you have medium arches, and if it looks like an oval, you have low arches. For the first foot you need a %26quot;neutral%26quot; shoe, for the second you need a %26quot;stability%26quot; shoe, and for the last you need a %26quot;motion control%26quot; shoe.

Go to Runnersworld.com, click on %26quot;shoes and gear%26quot; at the top, click on %26quot;Spring Shoe Guide%26quot; and follow the page(s) as they talk about the various shoes on the market. You%26#039;ll learn quite a lot about shoes.

Now, assuming that you have the right shoe, you might need different socks. There are really soft socks made just for runners. If there is a runners section in your favorite department store, or better if there is a store near you that specializes in running, get your socks there. %26quot;Ultimax%26quot; makes some really good ones, as does %26quot;Wright Running%26quot; (%26#039;the wright sock.%26#039; Clever). Try one of those.

Now, assuming that you have the right sock, you might just have to tape your ankles for a while. Plain old adhesive sports tape works really well for somehting like this. It spreads the pressure around and keeps your skin from moving in different directions, which causes blisters.

You%26#039;re lacing them correctly, right? A recent issue of Runner%26#039;s World (no, I don%26#039;t work for them. I just like them a lot) said that some runners have blister problems from just not lacing their shoes right.

Some runners just get blisters.

However, if you%26#039;ve not been getting them but now do with these new shoes, I would first suspect the shoes themselves, then the socks, then lacing.

In the meantime, tape around (not just on, depending on how far you run) the ankle will allow the blisters to heal. Nasty things, blisters. Never met one I liked.
Reply:Did you get them from a place like Body and Sole? (they%26#039;re amazing).

They might not fit right, and that%26#039;s really important for running shoes. If you think they are fine, just wear them. A lot. Wear them around the house, when you go shopping, every time you move basically.
Reply:well really the only thing you can do is run in them
Reply:Sounds like you didn%26#039;t get the right pair of shoes. Even if the shoes are new, they shouldn%26#039;t give you blisters. Go to a store that specializes in running. Typically, they will have you try on about 5 pairs of shoes and analyze how you run in each and how each pair feels to decide which type of shoe is best for you.
