How to care for running shoes?

I have sweat soaked running shoes which is kept in my locker after a run at the gym. It usually takes them three or four days to dry but lately, I have found they are starting to smell pretty bad. How can I get rid of the odor? Do I have to air-dry them after every run outdoors or near a heater to prevent the bad odor from forming?

Have you thought about throwing them in the wash and letting the air dry? Do it over the weekend since you wear them during the week.

Keeping them in your locker is a big mistake because basically you%26#039;re providing a breeding ground for mold and fungus (which is eventually going to get to your feet). Your best bet is to take them home each night and let them air dry (like outside on the porch or in the garage). Sprinkle either some foot powder or baking soda (best) in them for the funk.

Don%26#039;t forget to wear socks when you%26#039;re running also.
