Best running shoes for a 5'3'', 125 lbs. female?

I am starting to get into running and my current shoes, just arn%26#039;t cutting it. I am a little untrustworthy of the advice given by the 16-year-olds working at Finish Line. My feet are slightly flat and the outside edge of the heals of my shoes get worn out more quickly than the inside edge. Any suggestions?

You are right not to trust the 16 year olds at Finish Line. Go to a store that hires actual runners to help you find the right shoe for your feet. If you don%26#039;t have any in your area, try the shoe dog at http://www.roadrunnersports.com You answer a few questions about your running and your feet, and it recommends shoes based on your answers.
Reply:One of the best shoes for running is Asics. I%26#039;m not sure if you have wider feet but if you do I would reccommend New Balance. They are made slightly wider but also come in wide. Hey I worked at finish line when I was 16. They should know what their talking about because believe it or not we have to learn about all the shoes there and take quizes on them.
Reply:get shoes that are wide and those nike ones that are kind of high at the heel. either nike or addidas will do it.
Reply:i also have flat feet, and my shoes has been wearing out on the inside edges for years. i ignored this and ran everyday for 6 years. and just this year, i got a condition called plantar faciitis, where the bottom of my foot were extremely painful. i went to a podiatrist and now i have got a custom orthodics i put in my running shoes.

he told me people like me should buy running shoes with as much cushioning as possible. if you go on to nike website, you can search for running shoes by types and choose one with maximum cushioning. althought nike shoes tend to be narrower thatn other brands, they are better because they categorize their shoes in this manner.

also, stretch your calve muscle to prevent this from happening to you. once it happens, it is permanet and you have to wear orthotics for the rest of your life.
Reply:If you are going to be running consistently and with a lot of mileage, go to a shoe store that has knowledgeable professionals to help you find a good shoe. They should check your gait and find you a good stability shoe.
