Will wearing my running shoes all the time(even when I am not running or exercising) damage it?

I wear my running shoes to college during the day and attend my friends wearing it at night. Is it bad for my running shoes?

Will wearing my running shoes all the time(even when I am not running or exercising) damage it?
It%26#039;s a damage you can%26#039;t see, but will feel. The recommended %26quot;Life%26quot; of a running/training shoe is around 300 miles, meaning that after you pound the shoe on the road, track, or trail/treadmill, you crush the cushioning which reduces the protection for your knees and joints. Also, when you walk you put a different heal wear on the shoe then you do with a running stride and that may wear the heal so that when you run the shoe strikes a little off the normal striking point changing your gait and your balance. When I find a really comfortable running shoe, I try to buy another just like it to wear for non-running. So wearing the shoe all the time will shorten it%26#039;s running life faster.
Reply:You should only wear them when you are running. On the bottom of running shoes are grooves that are only made to work on the track. Plus you are wearing your shoes out by weaing them all the time.
Reply:Actually unless you have some major pronation or weight problem you should get about 400 - 450 miles out of your shoes if you take care of them.

Only 300 miles? Then most people I know would have to get new shoes at least every other month. And at about $100 bucks per pair that would be pricey.

No don%26#039;t wear your running shoes for anything other than running.
Reply:Save them for running.
Reply:Yes. It%26#039;s not good to have them damp and nasty all the time, plus you%26#039;re wearing away at the insole and the sole. It%26#039;s best to run in them, take them off and let them dry out before you run again.
Reply:running shoes will wear down no matter what but as you are wearing them when you arnt running they will wear down quicker and will not give your feet the support they need.

tip: buy a normal pair of trainers like k-swiss that last for ages and keep your running shoes for running and some other sport, that way they will last longer!
Reply:No.trust me!!.but if they get dirty you can always put it in the wash.
Reply:you should only wear them when running.
Reply:oddly enough you shouldnt. you have a different motion in your foot when you walk and when you run. You can wear them out in different ways. i don%26#039;t know the exact logic behind it but i know from my coach that you shouldn%26#039;t. unfortuanetly running shoes are pricey. you can still use the same shoe, but you should have seperate running shoes from walking shoes/
Reply:well, are they running shoes that were made for running? or are then like skater shoes? like vans?or kinda just everyday shoes like converse?

if they%26#039;re shoes that are made for running then obs you should wear it when your just running.

if its vans or converse, wearing them all the time is cool :P

[ i call them all running shoes so i was a little confused :P]
Reply:It will probably wear them out more easier, so they look more used then brand new. I say don%26#039;t wear themw hen you don%26#039;t need too, if your trying to maintain your shoes.
Reply:first of all how come it seems no one spells heel right (they always spell it %26quot;heal%26quot;)

anyway what I do is I wear running shoes only to run in and then once their running days are done i get a new pair to run in and wear my old running shoes the rest of the time because they are still in relatively good condition, just not good enough to run in.
